Carolina Holistic Medicine (CHM) also known as Priority Health, LLC operates within a different medical paradigm than standard corporate medical practices.  Therefore, we do not always prescribe the ''standard of care'' practice guidelines adhered to by most mainstream medical practices and enforced by government and medical organizations. This serves as informed consent to those seeking care with us. Our focus is patient-centered, and we do our best to recommend interventions that are safe and in the patient's best interest. This is likely to run parallel to or be distinctly removed from mainstream medicine (MSM). An example of this is the use of statin therapy for lipid elevations.
 

As Lyme-Literate practitioners (LLMD) we also adhere to the teachings and evidence-based medicine paradigm found in ILADS (ilads.org) in prescribing therapies for acute and chronic Lyme disease patients.
 

We adhere to much that is instructed in a series of lectures, symposiums and masterclasses in the realm of reformed-Functional Medicine (rFxMed) by the Priority Health Academy (priority-health.us). Experts in the field(s) give heavily referenced, evidence-based medicine information in these lectures, which may run counter to popular evidence based medicine in standard peer-reviewed journal teachings or medical society consensus statements.
 

From time to time, we may ask our patients to join our practitioners as members of our private medical association or private health association (PMA/PHA) with both our own CHM PHA and our national First Nation Medical Board / Turtle Healing Band PMA (FNMB) in an effort to protect our practitioners and patients alike.
 

Non-FDA approved interventions. We often prescribe non-FDA approved repurposed medications or interventions in our practice. We often use FDA-approved drugs outside of normal use (off-label use). We often prescribe dietary supplements and herbals which are protected by the FNMB and the DSHEA law of 1994. DSHEA is a 1994 U.S. federal law (act) that defines, regulates, and sets standards for dietary supplements, shifting much of the burden of proof for safety to manufacturers while limiting FDA premarket approval requirements.
 

Our practice has opted out of all managed care contracts (3rd party health insurance) and government programs (Medicare & Medicaid), so we do not file any claims for services with any insurance companies. We require current annual CMS opt-out contracts from all patients we serve who have Medicare Insurance to receive care. We do not file claims nor can a participant file claims with Medicare.
 

After the patient's second visit, they will be offered an opportunity to sign our Private Health Association agreement to continue receiving care at our practice.  Failure to do so may result in termination of care.
 

For any incoming Labs or Studies a new or existing patient sends CHM, it will be at the discretion of the reviewing practitioner to add an interpretation fee of $100 to the bill. In full disclosure, practitioners spend time carefully reviewing and interpreting the information a patient sends, which requires compensation. Also, any lab request not done with FullScript will require a $30 fee to generate a Lab Order (requisition form) for the patient. No fees are added for FS labs or self-orders using FS Journeys, WellProZ or similar. If your labs are drawn at either of our locations, a $30 draw fee will be assessed. This can be in addition to the $30 Requisition fee.
